The 1st KM Asia Cup successfully brought new concept and impact to the Hong Kong RC Race events!!!

Total of 83 entries for the two categories:

First time to use IFMAR Christmas tree for the individual finals in Hong Kong and makes it so excited! Total of 14 teams in the two hours team race, including Team KM International (Hong Kong), Team KM Japan, Team KM Technology(China),Team KM Thailand, Team Tomrc(Shanghai) and other Local Hong Kong teams.

Individual race-- local driver Samuel Chiu has a chance to meet X-ray & KM factory driver. Meen from Thailand again, they had tight battle in Thailand Thai Kings Cup, and Samuel beated Meen one round in the race, this time. Meen came to Hong Kong, seems to have an revenge.
Beside, there was many top drivers from Hong Kong , especially the 2006 IFMAR pre-world champion and KMs staff Hung Chung Hang , Lok Chei Hung sponsored by both KM & Hobbypro , William, PYCs local driver Fung Kin YinKetc.

In addition, came from the mainland China are Shanghai FeiYun hobby shops(W) Dai Chun(@) and his apprentice JJ Wang foliation, Zhu Qingde(yw), KM factory drivers from China are all China national champions Jiang Dong(V) and Lin Yuqing(LtM).
From Thailand, Hobbica Circuit Racing Tracks boss, Mr. Supakiet and Pattaya RC Power Boat boss, Charlie(, he is also the host of all the race in Pattaya.) brought the biggest team. Their team was more than twenty team members, and there were two drivers below fourteen year old, including Jans, and Panitis.Two top thai drivers and KM factory driver Meen and Charlee were also with the team.

Finally, KM Japan president Mr.Manabu Mizota brought two members including Rony Japans president- Mr. Masaki Yokoyama(Japan national 1/8 A-main driver),and RC Magazine Japans boss- Mr. Masahiro Yamahana from Japan to join the race, Mr. Yamahana will report the race in his magazine when he back to Japan as well!

On march 15th(Saturday)the battle was started. The first TQ won by Samuel Chiu, but Meen catch up quickly with him, and at last he won the TQ. After the first day three rounds qualification, the top fours are: 1. Meen Vejrak 2.Samuel Chiuw 3.Chan Chong ChuenЬu 4. Wong Ming Chongʩ..And they will directly goes into the A-main final without running the Christmas tree.

As for Hung Cheung Hang, he need to climb up from 1/2 semi-final to win a seat for the A main final. Others including Lin Yuch'ing(LtM), Chris Lee, Charlee, Penit, Fung Kin Yin. Unluckily Yokoyama from Japan and Jiang dong from China couldnt make it due to their car were broken down.

Sunday, it was a shinning day, the race track returned to be fine, most of drivers used the front 40X, rear 42X, and most of X-Ray NT-1s racing car drivers were using front one-way because of many narrow and bend corners. Besides, 80% of the drivers are using KM Modified Parts, to increase their cars efficiency and performance. Moreover, there were many brand of engines were used, including Sirio, Russia AXIAL, Japan OS, Italy Picco, Novarossi, Nija, etc. Tyres chooses was so many too, including Kyosho, Speedmind, ATS, Cheetah, Club, GRP, Ketc.

The individual final was one hour race. First ten minutes, the first car: Meen broke out of enemy encirclement, Samuel Chiu(w) followed so close; The third car (Hung Cheung Hang) was waiting for the chance.the top three cars were racing very closely and anxiously. But eight minutes later,Samuel hit a broken car and need to go back for the repair. Then Hung Cheung Hang took the second position and chasing Meen like mad, unfortunately 5 minutes later, his cars spur gear broken down, he was not able to continues and lost the race. The first car Meen kept the winning position until the end with no more challenge. And the second position is Chan Chong Chuen, the third is Chris Lee and the fourth is Fung King Yin.

Team race Final start right after the individual race---which is an two hours race between 14 teams from Asia countries, and each team contained two drivers.
The first half of the race were leaded by and fighted between Team KM international(Hong Kong).Team KM Thailand., Team KM Japan and Team KM Technology(China).All KM Factory drivers were trying to beat each others and showed who was the best sponsor driver---what a battle!!
After around one hour. position was changed because Team KM Japan and Team KM technology car kept broken down and created lots of problems. Two teams from Hong Kong(ͨҫ)came-up quickly and took the second and third position. But the lead car Team KM International was running far away with their steady drive and fast problem solving skills!!

At the end, KM Internation(Hong Kong)took the Champion smoothly, TeamͨA and B were 2nd and 3rd.

The award party was held in the track with very specially Hong kong village style dinner.
Very unique trophy and medals:
Trophies and Medals were Special designed and made of carbonXfirst time to be seen in worldwide RC race!! Top 30 individual drivers and top three teams were awarded with carbon tropies, others teams for the team race were awarded carbon medals.
Also over 120 prizes were awarded to the participants and gave away from the lucky draws; Prizes were sponsored by Winning RC-Tech Co., City Hobby, Waigo hobby, Shanghai FYModel, Inhobby, Rony Japan, Hong Kong RC magazine, Hong Kong RC Man magazine, Japan RC magazine.
Finally the two days 1st KM Asia Cup was done in highly successful way, and all the participants have already looking forward to the next 2nd KM Asia Cup in Thailand in April 2009!!!
